Established in February, 1993, George A. Hofmann and Richard Metzker bought the former James B. Root & Associates, a company which was started in the late 1800's by Charles W. Root and passed down to his son and grandsons. Hofmann-Metzker, Inc acquired all the survey records of the Root family which covered not only Cuyahoga County but the surrounding counties as well.
